Vacancy description

LTi Metaltech wishes to recruit and train an apprentice as a Welder / Fabricator. The Apprentice will work alongside existing technicians to gain the skills and experience necessary for the Apprentice to successfully fulfil their role at the end of their training.

An interest in Mechanical Engineering together with some basic practical skills would be beneficial with an attention to detail and the willingness to learn.

Some of the duties you will be working on when in company will be:

  • Metal Fabrication from technical drawings
  • TIG/ MIG/Robotic and plasma  Welding
  • Engineering / CAD design
  • Waterjet / CNC rolling operations
  • Production assembly

Personal qualities

  • A commitment and desire to follow a career in Mechanical Engineering, in particular to develop practical skills to a high standard

Desired qualifications

A minimum of five GCSE's (or equivalent qualifications) at grade 5 and above including English, Science and maths.

Future prospects

We put a lot of time and effort into training our apprentices as we hope that they will all stay with the company as valued employees once their apprenticeship is complete.

Things to consider

The successful candidates will need to commit to undertaking a comprehensive training programme, on-the-job training and completing a portfolio of evidence – in line with NVQs.

Apprentices are paid for their normal working hours and training that's part of their apprenticeship (usually one day per week)
