Are you finding it difficult to recruit suitably skilled and experienced staff? Have you considered developing your existing staff? Delivering a work based or academic qualification could not only help fill your skills gap, but also produce a more productive and committed employee.

Increasingly the work based option is becoming very popular with employers who want to have the skills of an employee, who has learnt on the job, recognised.  Alternatively to train employees in a new or second skill. Qualifications are selected to suit the individual’s role and awarded against a portfolio of evidence and work place observations. These qualifications are completed in company and, in similar fashion to the apprenticeship scheme, are delivered and assessed by ETT.

For those employers wishing to up-skill or dual skill an employee, particularly in electronics or instrumentation & control, the academic route is worth considering as it underpins newly learnt practical skills. Both level 3 (BTEC) and level 4/5 (HNC or Foundation Degree) courses could be delivered on a part time basis by a local provider.
