Advanced Level Apprenticeship
The successful candidate will be taken on as a full-time employee of Nammo starting September 2019 .The chosen apprentice will then work at Westcott under the guidance of the Manufacturing Manager.
Our aim is to produce a very highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise in:
The components you will create, will primarily be manufactured in titanium, stainless steel or super alloys, they must be manufactured to an extremely high standard. You will learn how to carefully produce work to the tightest possible tolerances. We will teach you how to overcome extremely demanding engineering challenges and produce the necessary tooling to help you do so.
Requirements and prospects
We are looking for an individual who has the following baseline attributes: hard working, self-motivated, team working attitude, attention to detail, manual and intellectual dexterity.
We will want you to take a strong interest in our space thruster business and develop into a highly valued member of our multi-skilled team. In return we will provide you with a demanding but friendly team working environment which offers encouragement and tuition in every aspect of your work.
A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) at grade 5 and above including English, Science and Maths.

Nammo Westcott designs, manufactures and tests a range of chemical thrusters (small rockets) which are used to propel satellites into position either in the Earth’s orbit or for deep-space missions to other planets. The company also makes less powerful thrusters that control the satellite’s attitude/position during its 15 year orbit life.
The company is the UK’s only space chemical rocket thruster manufacturer and has a long history of success with many hundreds of units in use, the team has approx 30 experienced people based at Westcott which covers every aspect of space thruster engineering and production.

Training to be provided
Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship delivered over 4 years. First year basic training and subsequent years spent in company following company training plan. To reflect the Standard / Framework requirements.
