Chiltern Railways has a fantastic opportunity to recruit 4 Engineering Apprentices. Our well-established training scheme develops young people into skilled technicians to work on our diverse and growing fleet of trains. The 4-year training programme involves a thorough combination of college and work based training leading to a recognized engineering qualification and then successfully apply for a job within our engineering team at the end of 4 years.
Candidates will also be expected to work towards and complete the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award scheme.
Apprentices are involved in all maintenance aspects on a wide range of rail vehicle vehicles, including:
A minimum of five GCSEs (or equivalent qualifications) including English, Science and Maths at grade 5 or above.
Through the apprenticeship there will be a yearly pay rise in addition to any company pay increase as the college and duke of Edinburgh targets are achieved.
On completion of the apprenticeship, successful candidates obtain a well-paid challenging position within Chiltern.
The Chiltern apprenticeship is recognised on the UK rail network and gives the candidate a good basis for employment anywhere on the expanding railway in the UK .

Other Important Information
Successful candidate will also be required to work on all aspects and locations of the Chiltern railways network to complete a rounded education of the infrastructure.
Chiltern railways is an expanding company that runs a rail service from Birmingham to London including, branches to oxford and other prime locations ,planning to move East to West in the coming years.
Chiltern run a multiple fleet of trains from locomotives to diesel units and provide the servicing and maintenance for the vehicles.
Along with owning stations along our mainline, and other smaller lines Chiltern is customer focused and strives to be the leading rail provider .It continues to grow and invest in its employees from train drivers to engineers .the main heavy maintenance depot is based in Aylesbury , in addition it has depots in Wembley and Banbury and outstations staff providing 24 hour coverage to the rest of the Chiltern network to attend problems , break downs and support our staff to maintain an efficient reliable punctual timetable .With 24 hour /365 days a year working the company never sleeps

Our apprentices are offered the chance to progress through the degree education level.
Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship delivered over 4 years. First year basic training and subsequent years spent in company following company training plan. To reflect the Standard / Framework requirements. Duke of Edinburgh award is undertaken .progression to degree level available and beyond varying on aptitude demonstrated.
